Ric Brook is a musician from Leeds and plays keyboards, guitar, and bass (all with an equal lack of grace). He grew up listening to a lot of music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, including all of the uncool genres, and the songs he writes are influenced by those in some form. This song was actually the result of missing a train when he was supposed to be going walking with some friends in the dales, and he wrote and recorded it in one go having got back from the station. Although being late for something due to losing your keys is probably an experience that all those fortunate enough to own a set can relate to, however, he suspects it would probably make for some fairly mundane lyrics. So this song is not about him actually missing a train - it’s about how technology has changed the speed of life and the world that we live in. There, that’s much more high brow, isn’t it (groan)!
